What is student insurance?
Student insurance is a group cover taken for the children of a school, rather than a policy each family buys alone. Because the whole school is covered together, the cover is priced for school-age children and every child is included, not only the families who happened to buy a policy.
With VidyaKavach it comes as part of one student package alongside the school app, learning games and the AI tutor. The school has nothing to administer: no forms to collect and no claims to process.
What student insurance covers
- In-patient hospitalisation and treatment, up to the plan’s medical cover of ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
- School fee protection of ₹10 lakh to ₹30 lakh, paid toward the child’s fees if a parent passes away.
- Accidental injury during PE, sports practice, inter-school tournaments, picnics and school-organised trips, with a fixed fracture benefit (₹1 lakh to ₹3 lakh School & Sports Cover).
- 24/7 doctor tele-assistance for anything that does not need a hospital visit.
- One full body check-up every year. It does not include dental or eye tests.
What is not covered
- Dental and eye screening in the yearly check-up, on every plan.
- Pre-existing conditions declared at enrolment, for the first 12 months.
- Cosmetic or elective procedures that are not medically necessary.
- Professional or paid sport outside school, and unsupervised activity that is not a school activity.
How claims work for parents
Claims are made by the family, directly, with the documents the hospital gives them. Cashless treatment is arranged at network hospitals; at other hospitals the family pays and claims the money back. The claim guide lists the documents needed at each step.
Which schools and children can have it
Any recognised school in India, CBSE, ICSE or State Board, from Class 1 to Class 12. Every enrolled student in the package is covered for the year.
VidyaKavach is a school and learning platform. Student protection is arranged with licensed insurance companies; VidyaKavach is not an insurer and not an insurance intermediary. The policy wording issued by the insurer decides what is covered. Read it before you rely on any cover.
