Why a yearly school health check-up matters
Children rarely say that something is wrong. Low weight, a breathing problem or a heart murmur can go unnoticed through a busy term. A check-up at school reaches every child, including those whose families would not have booked one.

What happens on check-up day
- The health team sets up at the school on a date agreed with the principal.
- Each child is checked class by class; the results are recorded against the child’s school record.
- The school gets a complete health register, a health card for every child and a management summary.
- Parents see their own child’s health card in the VidyaKavach app.
What the check-up does not include
The yearly check-up does not include dental or eye tests, on any plan. We say that plainly rather than in fine print. If your child often has headaches while reading, squints at the board or complains of tooth pain, book an eye test or a dentist visit separately.
Kids’ health between check-ups
A yearly check-up is a baseline, not a replacement for the family doctor. Keep your child’s vaccination record up to date with your paediatrician, and talk to a doctor about any lasting change in weight, sleep, energy or mood.
For questions that do not need a hospital visit, the tele-doctor is available at any hour. For an emergency, go to the nearest hospital.
